Mayor John Stromberg gave his first State of the City address to a packed house at the City Council chambers on Jan. 6, 2009. The key message? Sustainability. 
Kara Andrade was out and about on First Friday and caught the performance of Water Bound, a group from nearby Talent, entertaining the crowd at Studio 5 on A Street in Ashland. 
Mandy Valencia was on the scene of a Shoe Shooting held at the new art gallery opened on First Friday, Jan. 3, 2009, by City Councilor Eric Navickas. Visitors took turns using a slingshot to propel shoes with paint-covered soles at a large painted face of President George Bush. Wanna share?

Water Bound
The musical group Water Bound performed in Ashland on Jan. 2, 2009 at Studio 5 on A Street. The band from Talent, Oregon played during the First Friday Art Walk in support of Disabled United Direct Empowerment (DUDE).
