Amy Obenski at the Beanery

"Amy Obenski employs breathy jazzy vocals with luxurious catchy hooks that bend and drip down your spine giving you a nice tingle of delight."

-- Smother Magazine

Amy Obenski has released her second CD, "Kite", less than five years after writing her first song. Her career has been moving quickly since her debut release in 2003, when MTV executives contacted her after hearing her songs on someone's iPod. All of her songs are now licensed by MTV for use in two of their shows.

Various venues around California have hosted Obenski including Biscuits and Blues in San Francisco, Henfling's Tavern in Santa Cruz and the Temple Bar in Santa Monica.

The most striking aspect of Obenski's music is her voice that rises and falls with sensitivity and passion. Her vocals highlight her poetic yet simple lyrics, and the music glides underneath piecing it all together. When her band members Ted Framhein (Bass) and Paul Stevens (Drums) are with her, they create a rhythmical force in the music that complements her sound and brings out it's fullest potential.

Obenski grew up surrounded by the Arts in her hometown of San Diego, California. She started singing in choir at age five, and began learning piano at age six. After high school she moved to Santa Cruz, now making it her home for 10 years. At age 23 she began songwriting and picked up the guitar. Her debut album, "What We Tell", was released two years later.
