Body discovered

A passerby on Thursday found the body of a woman lying along the Bear Creek Greenway near Ashland, officials said. The woman, whose age was not known, had apparently committed suicide, Jackson County Sheriff Mike Winters said. Deputies were called to a section of the Greenway near Eagle Mill Road at about 3:30 p.m., but Winters said it was not known how long the body had been there.

Oregon State Police

Sunday 9 p.m. - Transient man, 35, found walking in traffic near Highway 99 at Valley View Road. The man was transported to Medford detox.

Saturday 1 p.m. - Fairfield, Calif., man, 31, driving a semi-truck north-bound on Interstate 5 at milepost 1 failed to turn around and head south at the chain area as instructed. The man was cited for reckless driving, not using chains and a false log.

Friday 7:22 p.m. - Ashland woman, 40, lost control of vehicle on black ice, spun and landed in ditch on Highway 99 at milepost 3.5.

Friday 2:05 p.m. - Sherwood man, 19, lost control of vehicle on snow and flipped over on Interstate 5 southbound at milepost 7.5.

Ashland Police and Fire

Tuesday 7 p.m. - A vehicle parked in the Ace Hardware parking lot on A Street at Fourth Street was sideswiped by an unknown vehicle, causing $1,000 damage.

Tuesday 3:57 p.m. - Ashland woman, 40, arrested for harassment after spitting on her neighbor on the 700 block of North Main Street. She was lodged at the Jackson County Jail.

Tuesday 2:42 p.m. - Medford woman, 19, cited for shoplifting $63.45 worth of merchandise from Rare Earth, 00 block of East Main Street.

Tuesday 2:41 p.m. - Ashland man, 54, cited for outstanding warrant after coming to the Ashland Police Department lobby to pick up property. The man was wanted for improper use of 911.

Tuesday, 1:14 p.m. - Man, 21, arrested for parole violation and possession of methamphetamine, 1300 block of Quincy Street. He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail.

Tuesday - A painting was stolen from the Black Sheep between Saturday and Tuesday. The painting was valued at $4,000.

Monday 9:10 p.m. - Vehicle vandalized while parked at the Knights Inn, 2300 block of Highway 66, causing $75 damage.

Monday night - Items valued at $300 stolen from an unlocked vehicle, 600 block of Glendale Avenue.
