Ashland artist Harriet Rex Smith exhibits artwork

Harriett Rex Smith spends her time painting in her studio at her home in the hills above Ashland.

She specializes in large scale watercolors which reflect her views on the universe and in textured acrylics that capture the light of landscapes.

Smith studied art and earned degrees from Indiana University and Notre Dame, and she has taught art at several universities.

A current exhibit of her work is on display at the Windmill Inn, 2525 Ashland St., Ashland, through Labor Day.

Many of her works are available as high-quality digital prints, or giclée, which are as enduring as the originals.

Much of her work is in private collections, and much of it can be seen at her studio on Highway 66 next to the Greensprings Inn.

Smith's work can be viewed on her Web site at HarriettRexSmith.com, but the best place to see it is at her studio. Call 488-0576 for an appointment.
