Setting the record - and Armitage - straight on BLM `timber shop' On Sept. 30, 2002, the Ashland Daily Tidings ran a Guest Forum editorial by BLM timber manager Steve Armitage entitled "Straightening out the `thinning' issue." I too have worked for the Medford BLM, but do not share Mr. Armitage's rosy critique of its logging program. He paints the picture the Medford BLM is just in the business of utilizing small trees - the byproducts of restoration forestry - through innovative technologies.
