Lobs take center stage in Grizz loss

AHS boys lose
The Ashland boys tennis team took North Medford to court Tuesday, but lost the verdict as the Grizzlies fell 6-3 at North Medford.

Freshman sensation Johns gains medalist honors; AHS baseball roundup
Ashland freshman sensation Stephanie Johns Tuesday fired a red-hot 85 at the Cedar Links Golf Course to win medalist honors in a Southern Oregon Conference girls golf meet.

Morin an honorable mention
Marla Morin, the junior post who had a breakout 2001-02 season in leading the Ashland girls basketball team to the Class 4A state playoffs, received honorable mention status Tuesday on the Oregonian's all-state team.

Freshman Haley Varley's two-out, seventh-inning, bases-loaded single allowed the Southern Oregon University softball team to salvage a doubleheader split against Northwest Christian College at Raider Field on Saturday.

At Arcata, Calif. - The Raiders had 12 first-place efforts, including two each by Richard Bailey and Nicole Robertson, at the Humboldt Open Invitational Saturday.

At Portland, the Raiders women's tennis team earned road victories over Pacific and Lewis and Clark over the weekend to snap a two-match losing streak and improve to 8-3.

March 16: Four is enough for Grizz
The Ashland girls softball team only managed to get three hits Friday afternoon against non-league rival Henley. In the frigid weather conditions, three hits were all the Grizz girls needed to win the game 4-1, after a four-run fifth inning.

At Etna, Calif., the Grizzlies looked mortal for the first time at the Etna Tournament, splitting a doubleheader Friday on Day 1 of the two-day affair.

McMINNVILLE - The Southern Oregon University tennis team dropped four of six singles matches and three of four doubles matches in a 7-3 loss to Linfield Friday.

John Skinner resigned as head coach of the Ashland boys basketball team Tuesday, AHS Athletic Director Jim Nagel said today.
