I tried to calm down and think of the things that Lenn Hannon has done during his years in the Legislature that have benefited Ashland. It didn't help. Politics is a business of "What have you done for me lately."
What he has done to us is sacrifice our children and school system to keep people in liquor and cigarettes. He has moaned about how bad the other House is, but supported a plan that devastated the school emergency fund. He has followed the lead of his party that seeks at every juncture to reduce or eliminate the tax burden on big business and large land owners, and shift that burden to the middle class.
It is time for Mr. Hannon to retire, either voluntarily or by your vote. This man is dangerous to our city. Despite his protestations he doesn't care about the consequences of a string of hapless budgets. This year's budget cuts are not the end of the problem. The problem has been building for years. It cannot be solved without revamping the tax structure and giving the people of this city the right to run their schools. THE STATE SHOULD STAY OUT OF OUR SCHOOLS.
