Sometimes we take them for granted, and even though we see them every day performing their jobs, we never appreciate what we really have until we need them - our fire and police departments and I would like to give them a big hearty "thank you" for a job well done.
Last week a fire occurred in one of the three businesses we lease to, and I wish to thank our local fire and police departments for the outstanding job they did in containing the fire and making a thorough check to be sure there were no further occurrences to other buildings.
The fire occurred at night on Wednesday, Nov. 28, and it had to have been one of the coldest nights we have experienced so far this year.
Yet they had their duty to perform, and in so doing, the businesses on either side of the fire had to be opened and remain open so that access could be made to determine whether the fire was starting to spread.
With doors open to those businesses, I was concerned. But not to worry, as our police department stood guard and did not allow access other than to those who were authorized.
This could have been a major disaster in our downtown area, and was handled so efficiently and courteously, so thoroughly.
I'm impressed. Thank you so much for saving our building.
