Commissioners discuss Talent park
TALENT - The city's Parks and Recreation Commission will meet tonight to finalize the details for the new look for the Downtown Park/Skate Park on East Main Street.
Officials have received a donation by a local family for the city to build a memorial to their son. The memorial and the addition of bathrooms to the park are also included in the plans for the city's downtown park.
The commission is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. in the Talent Community Hall, 206 E. Main St. to discuss the details of the project.
Agenda items include City Administrator Kelly Madding's parting words to the commission before she leaves Friday to take a position with Jackson County. Parks and Recreation Chairwoman Cheryl Nadler-Voss was emotional at Madding's last City Council meeting last week, breaking into tears as she bid farewell to Madding and expressed her appreciation for Madding's dedication to improving Talent's parks.
The commission is also slated to discuss an addition to the Phoenix Talent Little League Fields on Colver Road and bicycling in Talent.
Also on the agenda is a report by City Planner Kevin Cronin; a progress report from a Talent Public Works representative on the Talent-Ashland-Phoenix water intertie project that will eventually connect the three cities to the Medford Water Commission; updates on the parks; and a review of park maps an the commission's fundraising plans.
